Valentina Folse, P.A.

Education
Valentina Folse is a physician assistant who joined OBGYN Associates of Alabama in July 2013. She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Surgical Physician Assistant program in 2004. She has been working in obstetrics and gynecology since graduation and we are very pleased to have her join our practice. She has been certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants since January 2005. She has also undergone certification by the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. She particularly enjoys assisting in surgery and has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery.

Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C or PA) are medical providers, formally trained in surgical and primary care. Because of the close working relationships PAs have with physicians, PAs are educated in the medical model designed to compliment phyisian training. Upon graduation, physician assistants take a national certification examination developed by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in conjunction with the National Board of Medical Examiners.PAs conduct physician examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and in virtually all states can write prescriptions. Within the physician-PA relationship, physician assistants exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. PAs also practice in education, research, and administrative services.

Personal Life
Mrs. Folse enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with her husband, two sons and two dogs. they are members of the Church of the Highlands.
