Biography

“Family and obstetrics are major themes in my life. My husband and I are both obstetricians and we have three young children, two daughters and a son.Empowering patients with information about their healthcare is one of my main goals as a physician. I love to use handouts, charts and diagrams to help patients understand the biological process. A good physician takes time to really listen to her patients and I believe that it is extremely important to develop a relationship with each patient that fosters communication and trust.”

Education
Dr. Goolsby graduated from the University of North Carolina and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1994. Following her residency, she practiced for three years at The Kirklin Clinic at UAB. She also did clinical research and co-authored several articles related to genetics during that time. In 1997, Dr. Goolsby joined OB/GYN Associates of Alabama.

Dr. Goolsby is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Alabama Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the Jefferson County Medical Society. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“I am married to a physician and we have 3 young adult children. We attend Church of the Highlands and I am active in several small groups. I am an avid reader and I love to exercise, travel, and cook.”
